I should've posted this post I posted in the Washington forum to here. Sorry.

Hello everyone I am from hawaii and I've visited Seattle during spring break this year since my girlfriend wanted to look for nursing jobs. We're both May 2009 graduates from a BSN program from University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her friend lives in Seattle who work as an RN since 2008 at Seattle children's hospital. We like it there although i grew up in oahu and she grew up in kauai. I graduate from the FNP program in august 2011 and I was wondering if there are many hospitals who would hire new grad RNs who has just received their masters as an FNP in Washington? What about specifically in Seattle? I don't have acute care RN experience after i got my license. I've also been meaning to join the air force after i gain the experience of a few years. We've been bummed out how the job market for RNs here in Hawaii is terrible!

Should I just apply for New grad positions as a bedside RN and work as an RN for two years then apply for FNP positions? Am I going to forget what I learned in the FNP program? Who's gone through this?
