Hesitant about getting FNP position

Hello everyone here, I check in daily and enjoy the posts. I graduated in 06 FNP took several months to take the boards, then several more months to leave my comfortable position as an RN. I am curently working very part time performing DOT physicals for a small company. I am looking for another part time position and have read with interested many family practice positions. I am worried too much time has gone by and I will not know how to proceed and prescribe with every patient that comes my way. I had excellent practicums in a variety of areas. I want to apply for some positions but I am hesitating. I went to school all these years and I am am not on the young side of my nursing career. How do I just take the plunge and apply? Do you have orientation as a new NP in family practice? Thanks.
