hello:

i am a graduate student and i have a project assignment that i have to complete as part of my course. i need to interview a practicing nurse practitioner and ask them a few questions about their job. i tried interviewing numerous nps at the hospital where i have my clinical time, but all of them said they were busy. i can understand because they are at work. however, i still need to complete this assignment, so i thought i would post it here and see if any of you will have mercy on me and help out. thanks in advance. j

i need the following questions answered...

- type of practice setting

- years in practice

- age range of patients

- average # pts. seen per day

- billing/coding responsibilities

- own medicare billing number? y/n

direct reimbursement?

- listed as primary care provider (pcp) in any mco's? y/n

any direct reimbursement?

- how do they accomplish chart review with collaborator?

- how do they maintain continuing education responsibilities?

- if possible, find out what specific protocols are being used in the practice setting.

- ask to see their collaborative practice agreement.

- you may include any other information you find interesting. (what do they like most/least about their position? about being an np in general? do they belong to any professional organizations? which ones and why?)

thanks in advance again.... :)

Can you job shadow an NP? I had to job shadow an advanced nurse so I went to the lady who does my yearly exams...ha. It worked, I got the answers I needed. :)
