I am looking for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Program with at least partial availability through a distance ed. program like internet courses or correspondence. Does anyone know of such a program. I have a master's degree in nursing ed. and need to get a post master's certificate or at least credits in the psych specialty area. Thanks for any information.

Vanderbilt University http://www.vanderbilt.edu/nursing has a full distance Psych NP program. I completed the program in 2003, distance students meet for 1 week every 3 months, while completing online courses and rotations in the home areas. Check it out!

I cannot thank you two enough for the options mentionned. However, a quick questions or two, if you please... For StonyBrook-how are the practicums organized and when,in the coursework do they start? I have looked at their Web page and couldn't quite get the info.
For Vanderbuilt- is the "one week" that you go to the University site part of the clinical practicum? Also, where do you stay-in the dorms? Gee I'd need a pet friendly dorm....
Ah, the ins and outs of distance learning. Again, thanks- and keep the replys coming. They are so helpful.
I live very near a good Psych NP program but it is very expensive, but the practicums seem easier to negotiate.
