Nurse Informatics Interview (few questions for school assignment)

I am in a BSN program and one assignment is to gather the below information from RNs who work in nursing informatics.

If I could get one or two replies, that would be great.

The interview questions are:

1. What is the role and function of this position in the overall coordination/provision of patient care?

2. What are required job knowledge and competencies for the position?

3. What are the challenges of the position?

4. How does the use of electronic medical records impact patient care delivery, quality care measures and monitoring, risk management, etc.

5. What are the greatest challenges in the position?

We are sometime leery of assisting with this type of assignment less it be viewed as doing the student's work for them.

I'd suggest you utilize/read previous posts on this Forum to answer #2,3 and 5. See the "Day in the Life" posts.

#1 Depends on the individual organizational structure, dept charter,etc. but you could find content in job descriptions - several has been posted to this forum.

Sounds like this is definately something your Instructor would want you the student completing the assignment to speak to. What do you think?
