Nurse Educator job interview

Published

Hi there. I have an ADN in nursing with an MS in psychology. At the encouragement of my nurse manager, I applied for a nurse educator position at my hospital. I didn't think I was qualified for the job but applied anyway and have an interview. I am a little nervous about how to go about the interview process since I don't have an MSN. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

How did it go?? I have my first round of interviews next week.. any tips... I have to prepare a presentation... meeting with the search committee... dean and director.. all in one long day

I haven't had the interview yet but I will keep you posted.

Specializes in Trauma, Teaching.

I'd be prepared to say why I would be a good educator: list areas where you have taught. For instance, I used to be a GS Leader, and taught a lot of skills, was a trainer for the council, etc.

Stress your organizational skills, that you can put together a class, all the materials, and evaluation tools to assess both how much they learned and to give feedback.

What credentials do you have? ACLS, CCN, etc. Have you been rated as "potential instructor" in any of them? Stress your strengths, (maybe ask your manager why she thinks you would be good for this job).

Good luck!
