I did not see a thread for the 2021 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program application round. Post on this thread any insight/questions/etc...

I am not sure and was curious as well. Looking at past posts a good majority that I have seen whom got a credit check got a reward. I have also seen people that did not, but it seems more on the plus side? Not sure though.

Good luck to you!
I have had 2 credit checks, but the first one is from 4/27/2021 and it says NHSC LRP/SP/HRSA. The second check was on 5/20/2021 and it says NCLRP/NCSP/HRSA. I did apply for both Nurse Corps and NHSC loan repayments, although the NHSC application cycle just closed a few days ago so I wouldn't think they would pull my credit before the application cycle ended. What does everyone else's credit check say?
I got an email on Friday that I am a finalist for National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program. That is $50,000, and I believe not taxed? (unsure about that). If I accept then I am automatically declined from Nurse Corps LRP. That one would give me quite a bit more $ given my student loan debt... and is potentially taxed. I'm not sure if I can take the gamble...
Congrats! I was wondering if anyone had gotten notifications yet. Tough decision for sure, but with the weight of student loan debt, I think the old saying "a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush" is applicable. I think it would be hard for me to turn down a "finalist" spot for an unknown outcome. Congrats again, guess it's somewhat of a good dilemma to have.

Thank you! It's not for sure, just says I'm a finalist but crossing my fingers I get the reward. Thanks for the old saying reminder, that seems like it rings true to this situation. It seems after taxes with Nurse Corps LRP (if my calculations are close) it's really only about a $4,000 difference for me.
OK. CNM second year applying for Nurse Corps. Former NHSC loan repayment recipient for 3 years and then changed jobs so did not qualify until they had site certification this year. I did apply for NHSC award this year. As you all know, there was some preference for Women's Health this year and I fell into that category.
HPSA score of 16
DTI=90%
I received notification last night that I was a finalist for Nurse Corps. I accepted this morning and waiting on countersignature by the secretary. I thought about declining the award because it does move my husband and I into a higher tax bracket. However, we just purchased a home and I wasn't willing to chance losing both of them just for tax purposes. Does anyone have experience with the tax situation? We live in Nevada so not state income tax.

Congratulations!
From other posts about Nurse Corps it seems that you will get monthly payments for 24 months with federal taxes withheld from those monthly payments. You may have to pay more in depending on your situation. However, there is speculation that you may not have to pay any taxes at all on it! Someone else posted this link about a covid relief bill that was passed... So hopefully you won't have to pay taxes on it!
