Nurse Consultant (Assisted Living) and Post Cosmetic Surgery Home Care

After 10 years of trying to complete an RN program with kids, work and other obligations. I had to move nearly 700 miles away from a place I called home (Atlanta, GA) for 14 years to Cleveland, Ohio where I got 'er done in 18 months. I am currently waiting to sit for my NCLEX-RN. It all started here on ALLNURSES where I changed my screen name.

I have 16 years of experience in Senior Living, from working in the facility as a Wellness Director to an Executive Director to my last position as the Corporate Director of Resident Care. Now that I will be an RN, I am now being recruited by several companies who know my work. However, I feel like the RN just gives me the ability to cast my net wider, as I have experienced in Operations, Regulatory, Start-up, Technical Initiatives and more.

I am wanting to become a Nurse Consultant for Senior Living Companies. I need insight on Website Design and Marketing. There is a need, as my last company hired an RN to do things that the State of Georgia required that the employees simply could not do effectively with their other responsibilities.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Lastly, I am also interested in starting a small Post Operative Cosmetic Surgical Home Care business too and I really need help.

Thanks for your time.

Start with research. What are the industry magazines or internet sites for senior living? Can you find others in your line of work online? Try LinkedIn. If they have websites, you certainly have a good jumping off place. If a serious website is required, I would suggest buying a current book on SEO, don't place your trust in any of the multitude of developers, you need to learn about some of the important web stuff if you plan to market via your site.

Linked In or FB may be all you need for marketing though. For other business help, I would highly recommend SCORE. You can get a mentor, usually a retired successful business person.

These are all great concepts. Have you completed the marketing phase of your business plan? It should include a list of off the assisted living as well as all the surgical centers in your area you would like to partner with. When you have your list you should send the program director/office manager a postcard with all the details of your business (be mindful this should be aesthetically appealing). After your postcards/brochure have been mailed follow up 1 week later via phone or in person.

I could go on and on with marketing tips! I've had several consulting firms as a RN so I have many many ideas. As far as social media.... it's great however you have to know your demographic. You will have to make more efforts to personally contact companies and build a relationship which they will appreciate.

You can email me at [email protected] if you want to pick my brain.
