I have 3 years of L&D nursing experience. I moved to a new state and applied to the local hospital.
A friend's mother-in-law submitted my résumé for me and I heard HR was impressed. They called me right away, we had a good chat. They said I needed to officially fill out an application and complete the Nurse Career Battery Test before I could interview. It was all very vague subjective questions and they told me it was nothing I needed to prepare for so I didn't.
But then they never got back to me!
That was almost 2 months ago and they haven't responded to my emails or phone calls.
Could be normal HR flakiness, it's summer, it's the South so things are slow, but just seems strange to me.
I told them on the phone I was hoping to start in the fall, so maybe they figure no rush.
Or maybe they just don't have per diem openings at the moment which is what I told her I was interested in.
But I'm definitely paranoid that I failed that stupid test!
Even if I did you'd think they'd get back to me and let me know!
So frustrating....
I'm considering calling the general HR # and straight up asking if I passed the test.
What are other people's experiences with this test?
If you fail do they give you a second chance?
She didn't tell me and I didn't ask because it didn't occur to me I could fail!

I would simply call and ask why you haven't heard back and let them know you are still interested in a position.

I've had many interviews/ tests in the last few years. Not familiar with the Nurse Career Battery Test .
Depending on the facility , it has taken months to receive feedback.
You cannot go wrong by calling or appearing in person to ask if you are still a candidate.
Best of luck with your job search. Let us know how it's going.
Well, it's confirmed. I failed! HR finally called me back to tell me. (3 months later...)
I can retake in another 3 months, but don't have high hopes since she couldn't tell me what I did wrong, how close I was to passing, or how to do better next time.
Although she said they're changing the test, so maybe I'll do better on the new version.
Does anyone have any tips for passing this??
How common is this now?
I never had to take one at my first job in 2009, though I just heard that that hospital requires it now. Hopefully I won't encounter this stupid test everywhere I apply. Ugh.
