I was just curious about how many people work in a agency setting . I really enjoy working in a in-home care setting . I find it rewarding and being appreciated and receiving positive feed back on the progress I make with my clients . I am just expressing my happiness with my new career and soon I will enrolling in a LVN program :yeah:

I work straight agency. You get a lot of experience. There are many positives as negetives. Outside getting a lot of experience - here are some positives vs. negetives.

Positive Negetive

You can decline shifts offered so you can study Decline too many shifts they don't call you as much

You get paid more than regular CNAs No benefits

Don't get bored with the same old place Easier when you know the patients, where things

are at, the facilities policies.

The staff is always happy to see you Usualy get the most difficult and heavy patients

Weekends and Holidays are when you get called

most

December is always a slow month.

Cannot work for any company that you have done

work for through the agency-until 6 months after

having done no work for the agency.

Note: You have to realy be on top of the game and know your stuff. You have to be able to adapt FAST to different enviorments.

Oh - I forgot - You have to know how to handle the Nurse and CNA bullies. There is not a whole lot of them - but when you are not the regular employee they can realy come up with some :banghead: and try to put you in a

:deadhorse the mule's position.

I work for an agency right now and I love it and I get to experience unique patients and I LOVE the autonomy of the work setting!!!!
