Nursing Students CNA/MA

I have just finished a CNA course and I got an interview for a nursing assistant position very soon!! I am very excited. I am not sure how to prepare for the interview since I have no nursing experience and just finished my CNA class. What types of questions will they ask? Anything I should know or do? Are the CNA interviews different from just Nurse Assistant ones? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

They ask you what you would do in certain situations, maybe such as your pt is feeling dizzy but needs to use the toilet what do you do? Or maybe if you and a coworker disagree on how to care for a pt what do you do? Or, you see someone that is doing something that could harm a pt what do you do? Silly questions like that. Just think about what you have learned in your courses, think about how you would react in situations, common sense! You will do great! Good luck and let me know how it goes! Also, if you are going to nursing school..tell them about it! :) Hope this helps!

I get very nervous when going on interviews and try to prepare but often struggle with what to prepare for. Good idea would be to look up the hospitals mission statement and values and use those in your answers. For example if one of their values is accountability tell a story about how you were accountable for your actions in a previous job. Also be prepared for some general interview questions i was thrown for a loop when i was asked "how would you define professionalism?" and "What does customer service mean to you?" at an interview for a EMT job.

GOOD LUCK and dress professional!

p.s. resume, skills check sheet from school, letter of recommendation, etc. etc. always look good when you bring them to an interview.

Thank you both for taking the time to reply. I got the job!!!! I am SO excited to have a new career that is rewarding!! :yeah:I went on three interviews and got asked some typical behavioral questions to see my work ethic/personality. I was very comfortable and answered them the way they wanted me to. I start in a week!! Thanks again, your advice helped me prepare!

congratulations! now you get to see how things work in the real world... never stop treating patients like people more importantly like people you care about. As a CNA you can be a patient advocate by making sure everyone gets a bath, bed change, quick help to the toilet and make a huge difference in their hospital stay and recovery.
