NPs in the nursing home

Published

I saw an ad for an NP to work for a nursing home. I was wondering if anyone is doing this and if so, what is it like? Do you like it? Is there enough variety and patient needs to warrent a practitioner on a full time daily basis or do you do alot of administrative work to "fill in the gaps".

I did some of my APN clinicals at the large (300 bed) county nursing home and the NP was busy the entire day and loved it! I actually saw an ad in my paper recently too for an APN at an HCR Manor Care facility. Am unsure of their role but would expect it to be rounding and consulting.
