NP program at the University of Memphis

Hello guys, I graduated from the U of M in Dec. 2007 and have hopes of going back to school to get my FNP. I have a friend who also graduated from LSON in Dec. 2007. We basically have the same gpa 3.3 and basically the same credentials. She applied and was not accepted. I'm totally freaking out now. LSON is my alma mater and I'm worried about getting in. Is there anyone who is in the program now. What type of experience and gpa did you have to have to get in. I'm nervously waiting.

Specializes in CTICU.

(I an not yet an NP, but an ACNP student).

I wouldn't worry about someone else. You never know why they weren't accepted. All you can do is make yourself the most competitive applicant possible. Get good experience and great letters of recommendation from your supervisor. Take the GRE and get a great score to reduce the impact of your GPA (although I don't know that 3.3 is that bad).

If all else fails, you could try taking one or two graduate courses as a non degree seeking student to prove your capacity for graduate level study and then try to get into a program.

Honestly though, you should probably do what you can and then apply before worrying about something that hasn't happened yet.
