Since there are no compact licenses for Nurse Practitioners, how can I take my BSN-MSN online through a different state, and then get licensed in the state that I work in. For example; I am looking into an online psychiatric NP program through Southern Alabama and it says that after graduation, I am prepared to take the Alabama state license. This is the same thing for all of the programs that I have looked into. How then do I get licensed in New Mexico where I work?

Every school says something like that in their program description. They're not saying you can't get licensed in other states; they are just assuring you that their program does meet the requirements for licensure in AL because that's where they are located. Advanced practice nurses go to school in one state and get licensed in another all the time, and move between states once they've been initially licensed. Getting licensed in a "new" state as an advanced practice nurse is more complicated and more of a hassle than it is for generalist, "regular" RNs, but it's done all the time.
