I keep hearing in the MD vs. NP threads and elsewhere that NP curriculum isn't standardized. I thought all accredited programs had a standard curriculum. Maybe they are talking about unaccredited programs? How common are unaccredited programs?
I know what you mean. I have been jumped for accusing certain institutions with not so great track records. Usually the most defensive people are the ones that take most insult because their program is the one that is BUNK and they want to easiest msn they can acquire. Isn't that the most challenging thing to accomplish though? For people to look inward and admit that their degree isn't as great as they think it is. It is a major shot at somebody's pride to admit their degree doesn't give them God status.

This is the problem, though. There are a significant number of NPs who think that there is no problem. They think online education from for-profit schools with 90%+ acceptance rates is just fine. I believe the university juan is referring to is Walden (the one that never received a site visit before receiving accreditation for its NP programs). I read that about Walden a while back. I mean, just look at this site, for example. If anyone dares say anything remotely negative about Walden or other for-profits (despite the fact that there are many, many problems with that "university") they get jumped on immediately and accused of being 'haters'. This site itself is sponsored by for-profit universities.
