Hey fellow wisconsin nurses.
Just want to hear some opinions on the two questions that will be on the ballot for this november!
The civil liberty amendment. What do you think of it?
I think if two people love each other enough that they should be able to marry (weather a male and female or same sex couples). Another thing is I feel it is more of a religious reason taht they don't want same sex not to marry not a government issue (which this nation was founded on seperation of church and state!
The death penlty.
I really don't know how I feel about this one. I think if someone did a bad enough crime this might be effective (I would worrry about innocent people who go to death penlty)
Well thought I would spark some people up for the upcomming november election. Tell me your thoughts?

PS. who do you think will represent the republicans in the election?

I will be voting against the ban on civil liberties. I think that what you do behind closed doors is your business. I have many friends that are bi- or gay and some of them have been together much longer that a lot of the hetero- couples I know. You don't have to be different sexes to love someone. this amendment would stop a SO who has devoted the years to a relationship from inheriting property unless SPECIFICALLY provided for in a will. We all know that a will is the best way to make sure your property is divided as you wish, but with hetero- couples if there is no will the spouse doesn't have to worry about their possessions being taken from them. It would also mandate that unless stated, your SO (if the same sex) may not be able to receive information in case of an emergency.
This amendment simply infringes upon the right of those who don't hold to the expectations of the religious society that feel sex is for procreation only. If that is the only purpose for sex, all those how have gone through menopause better stop it. Those who have had a hysterectomy for whatever reason, better stop it. Those with ED, better stop it. In fact, outlaw viagra because you don't need to have sex if you can't get an erection, that's someone's way of saying you should not reproduce. (PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS HAS ALL BEEN SAID TONGUE-IN-CHEEK. NO FLAMING NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!)
As for the death penalty, I urge you to read the wording of this item carefully. I think that IF the crime is bad enough, IF there is DNA evidence, or IF there is a guilty plea it's warranted. In those case, there should be no appeal allowed and they should sit for years on the taxpayers dime. I am from Texas where any ole Tom, Dick or Harry gets the 'lectric chair for just about anything and I feel it's severly overused in that state. It has it's place under the right circumstances.
I have not formed an opinion on the govenor's race yet.

As pathetic as Doyle is, I will still be voting a straight Democratic ticket - I'm tired of the republicans and they frankly scare me to death.
I will be voting against the "Marriage" ammendment. I am tired of hearing about ammendments/laws/bans like this being touted as protecting marriage. If people are so concerned about protecting marriage, then lets make divorce much more difficult to get, marriage liscenses require some sort of pre-marrital counseling and do something to keep senior citizens from divorcing so that they can afford to live.
I will vote agains the death penalty question. The day they can prove to me that every person on death row is absolutely guilty and not suffering from any mental disease or defect - then I may consider it. Until then, and with death row inmates being proven innocent all the time, then I will oppose it.
(I wish this site had a spell check )
Thanks for the response obrn
I am still deciding on what I want to do. I am not happy with doyle at all and might vote green party for the ticket or Doyle still trying to decide. I am voting "no" on the amendment. I agree with both of you guys. I think if two people love each other so much to be together their whole lives who cares what sexs they are. I see more marriage/ love with two guys or two women getting married then hollywood 1 year marriages. With death penalty. I agree I think if they are found 100% guilty and no mental illness I think they should be put to death.
Thanks all for insightful responses. Keep em comming

I'll be voting straight Democratic..even though I love my Republican Rep. She has done alot for this area, and her office helped me personally with an issue I had a couple of years ago.
The "terrorism" thing has been milked to death and I am confident that regardless of which party is elected to office, that the fight will continue, and the days of people sitting back and allowing a plane to be hijacked are o-v-e-r.
This country needs a new direction and needs it fast. When the gas companies are showing 90% increases in profit quarter after quarter, and I'm buying less and less food in order to keep my grocery bill down and pretty much not buying anything because EVERYTHING has a transportation cost attached to it, I would probably vote for a dead man before I would vote a single person in the current administration back in.
I don't care how long so-and-so has been in office.
Yes, jobs have been created, but they are also over 85% minimum wage jobs....the higher paying jobs are going over seas.
The death penalty, I think they should have a separate appeals process for death penalty cases to speed it up and put those people to death in less than a year after initial sentence. I believe Child Molesters need to be sentenced to death and anyone that has been known to TORTURE another human being (why should you get rewarded b/c you didn't get to finish the job?).
The gov't at the Federal level needs a Balance, and an all-Republican agenda (or an all-Democratic agenda) doesn't work. ONE set of goals, ONE mindset....that is a scary direction, and at the heart of the problem with this country.
I'm using the power of my vote to change that.
