Note quite a new grad, not quite experienced

Hi everyone,

After graduating nursing school in May 2010, I moved from Texas to Wisconsin and got a job in ICU in August. Wisconsin is not quite working out, so I'm looking at moving back to Houston, my home town. I want to work in the medical center since the boyfriend will most likely be going to grad school in that area. The problem is that I'm not sure how I'm categorized here because I'm not really a new grad but I'm not considered experienced either. We are probably going to move in the beginning of July, so applying for these internships is now out of the question.

Any advice for me on finding an ICU job?

What about moving after he does and staying through August to get your full year of experience? Or start applying now and see what kind of feedback you get with 9+ months of experience.

Thanks, 0402. The lease we have ends July 1 and there's no opportunity for month-to-month. I've started to apply to a few places (TCH, Ben Taub so far). We will see what they say. Memorial Hermann and Methodist have quite a few jobs posted that I'm thinking of applying to -- they all want one year of experience, though. I hope almost a year counts!

Try Memorial Hermann- I know they will hire people with less than a year experience even if their requirements say more. Good luck!

I know this is an older post but I was curious if you were able to find a job with less than a years experience. I'm currently thinking of doing the same. I graduated in CA but moved to ND for experience and am contemplating applying for jobs back.home before I fully reach a year. Any advice would help!
