Hey. I've been an LPN for 6 years. I've worked at the same nursing home for 9 years. I worked for 2 days at another nursing home that was part of a large health care system that consists of a bunch of hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes. It was my way of getting into a hospital as an LPN.
The nursing home was abysmal. I won't get into details, but it contained every bad nursing home stereotype. I only worked there 2 days and quit fearing for my license and sense of ethics.
Cut to 3 years later and 2 weeks til I'm done with my RN and I want to work in one of their hospitals. The hospitals are nice and I'd love to work there. I'm filling out an application online and it asked if I've ever worked for them before and for how long.
So....what do I do? I don't want to say I didn't work for them because I'm sure I'll pop up on a file or something so I'd be a liar and look like I'm hiding working there. But I don't want to say yes and then write only 2 days. And what do I say when they ask why I left? I'm staying at the nursing home for a while after I get my RN, so I don't want to say I couldn't handle working at both nursing homes because then they won't think that I can handle working at both places again.
What to do, what to do??????? Thanks!

I would skip it, as it was only 2 days. It has been 3 years, so place
the emphasis on your other work as an LPN and highlight you
went back for your RN. If the nursing home is as bad as you describe,
bet they have had lots of turnover.
Yeah that's what I normally do. The difference is that the nursing home and hospitals are part of the same group....I also have a very unusual name so since even the application part of the website "remembered" me I'm sure I'll pop up on a computer somewhere. My family said maybe I can kinda fib a bit and just say it was scheduling problems with work and school.

In this case, seems fair. You have worked hard to continue your education, so best wishes
with the job search...
Thank you!
