I'm not sure if you're a newer nurse, or just to the site but my two cents is also to stick it out. Since you have a 12 week orientation, I'm strongly leaning towards you being a new graduate.
My first position was significantly under-staffed and while I wasn't enjoying it that much, i realized if i walked it would:
A. Not look good to have such a short time at my first nursing employer on resume and possibly receive a bad reference in the future
B. further contribute to the problem, it was doing nothing to help or make a change. Just making things further stressful for my colleagues left behind.
It takes time, but once you have a certain amount of floor experience, your time management skills improve, multi-tasking, (I hate to say it) and delegation becomes more vital, etc etc.
Give yourself at least 4 months off orientation, if not more to grow and realize if it was just being a new nurse or if the problem is not being appropriately addressed. It sounds like your employer is trying to improve by continuing to hire. They ARE trying. That's better than some
good luck

I am in week 6 of 12 orienting to a new position. I find it very intense and stressful. The unit is understaffed but they are continuing to hire. I am torn between looking for a new job (I would love to go back to my old position, but have to wait 6 months) or sticking it out a little longer. I am liking the job less everyday and am stressed each evening thinking about having to go to work the next day.
