Northern CA coast hospitals

Published

I am planning my 3rd assignment in CA. I am currently traveling with agostini. Just looking for advice from travelers who have had good experiences @ hospitals in Northern California mainly within 1 hour of coast. We would love to stay in the Sonoma area but was unsure if there are hospitals that utilize travelers.

:onbch:

Santa Rosa has Sutter Santa Rosa, Kaiser, and Memorial. However, Sutter was threatening to close that facility and I don't know what happened with that. You might try looking at the Kaiser and Sutter websites to see what other northern CA facilities they have, or google northern CA hospitals -- there are a lot of smaller more rural hospitals in northern CA and they might not have NICUs but might need a NICU skilled RN. I worked at Sutter Santa Rosa last fall and really liked the low-interventionist philosophy of maternity care. The norCal coast is quite different from central CA and southern CA, however. It's pretty foggy and cold much of the time, and does not have the beaches the more southern places do. It is still beautiful, though. The "old hippie" culture is alive and well in nor Cal and can be entertaining :) We called the one OR in L&D the "Zen room" and staff would periodically smudge labor rooms with sage if there had been a run of difficult births there :)
