we have it here in st. louis at my hospital which is a large teaching facility.... when it first came out they said it would reduce the paper load in the charts and medical records, boy did they lie. every time a patient is transferred from the unit you have to print out a bazillion pages. whatever happened to going green?? one of our cardiologist agreed with me just yesterday about this, he said that the charts are MUCH thicker now. its sad how much we waste. i dont know how much those cats up there make...maybe they can chip in on my massage next week because im the one turning the patients they are watching....
  7. I LOVE IT...we usually use it for short term 4-6 days (if that) for sedation....then usually fent/versed gtt's. but i really do heart propofol because of the quickness. at our institution/ and in the ICU we only use it on vented pts. pretty strict on it too! GOLD BOND ULTIMATE softening lotion.....i use shea butter, but i think they have aloe and one other one you can get it at target. its miracle cream! also maybe try latex free gloves... couldnt hurt, however, at my hospital you have to have a prescription from employee health
  10. i would definitely check out dogtown and u city. i lived in u city while going to UMSL-college of nursing and loved having the metro link so close. however now umsl charges for a metro pass each semester (i dont know the current rate... $30-45? or if they offer it) but it saved me about $500-600 in gas around the time that gas prices started to really creep up. dogtown is great too, you have the luxury of having forest park and the zoo right across the street, plus if you have clinicals at barnes you dont have to wake up so early www.apartment-exchange.com apartment exchange is a great company that i have rented with while in u city www.byroncompany.com is the one i use in dogtown! hope this helps!!
  11. how do you like agostini? i have a friend on the med/surg floor that traveled with them and loved it. i plan to check them out when my contract is up.
  12. i forgot to include his issue....septic shock poor guy did pass away at about midnight that night.
  13. hey thankssomuch for this link...im just getting started but already its helpful!. i will definitely pass it along to my friends in the ICU!!
  14. man o man....new grad (8 months out) two codes ....and one surviving patient! at one point we even had torsades for a rhythm. its really wicked to see that across the monitor....

we have it here in st. louis, so far we have just experienced the computer charting part of it with ecaremanager. but i think its great. if your patient isnt doing so well and you dont want to leave the room, you can hit the button and ask them to check on your other patient while you are tied up... also the cameras can zoom in so far to see pupillary reaction. its pretty wicked.
