So I just got hired here and my estimated start for orientation like just classroom stuff is June 9th, it hasn't been confirmed but I did accept their offer letter and did my background check, drug test, and everything now I'm just waiting for them to get back to me but anyway....
my only real nursing experience is working at a subacute/LTC skilled nursing facility in which I only had 3 days of training so although I did learn some stuff there I feel like there's no real learning opportunities and even opportunities to improve my skills so I've been desperately trying to get into the hospital which took forever and now I finally got a job in med surg at north vista hospital which was great but it seems kinda intense. Patient nurse ratio is 1:7 sometimes they take vents which they give you 1:4 if you have a patient on vent/trach. So I've been kinda nervous about this position. It seems like a lot. They also told me for more experienced nurses they get 2 weeks of training and since I'm approaching a year of being a nurse HR would probably consider me as an experienced nurse. Their new grads get 5 weeks I think and I feel like I should be given more training so it's getting me more nervous cause I'm not yet confident in my skills to just get 2 weeks of training. Has anyone ever worked here? Can you tell me about it? Is this new nurse friendly??
