North Vista Hospital med surg T3 anyone know anything about this floor of this hospital?
So I just got hired here and my estimated start for orientation like just classroom stuff is June 9th, it hasn't been confirmed but I did accept their offer letter and did my background check, drug test, and everything now I'm just waiting for them to get back to me but anyway.... my only real nursing experience is working at a subacute/LTC skilled nursing facility in which I only had 3 days of training so although I did learn some stuff there I feel like there's no real learning opportunities and even opportunities to improve my skills so I've been desperately trying to get into the hospital which took forever and now I finally got a job in med surg at north vista hospital which was great but it seems kinda intense. Patient nurse ratio is 1:7 sometimes they take vents which they give you 1:4 if you have a patient on vent/trach. So I've been kinda nervous about this position. It seems like a lot. They also told me for more experienced nurses they get 2 weeks of training and since I'm approaching a year of being a nurse HR would probably consider me as an experienced nurse. Their new grads get 5 weeks I think and I feel like I should be given more training so it's getting me more nervous cause I'm not yet confident in my skills to just get 2 weeks of training. Has anyone ever worked here? Can you tell me about it? Is this new nurse friendly??

I just got hired at north vista hospital in the med surg unit I think it was T3? I'm high key nervous, any tips, advice, or I guess pep talk LOL
So I came from a skilled nursing facility because there were no hospitals that were calling me back so I had to settle for a skilled nursing facility that is subacute to long term care. I do work on the side with g-tube and vents/trachs sometimes but it's only to pass meds through g-tubes or by mouth. A lot of pain management and monitoring. I had about 20-30 patients there to pass meds for it was a lot LOL well I finally landed a job at north vista hospital and from the sound of it, it sounds pretty intimidating especially with a ratio of 1:7 so IDK what to expect and I wouldn't say I'm as prepared coming out of a skilled nursing facility especially after being a new grad. I worked at that facility for 8 months. Can I get a bit of advice or tips or something to help me through this? I'm really anxious about starting here LOL there was no other hospital that can take me and I need some acute care experience to help with my career plus they pay more.

Interview for Med Surg soon any tips or guidance?
So I have an interview soon for a med surg position at valley hospital in Vegas and I'm not looking for tips on the interview but any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. I just know more about the speciality. So I've been trying to look for a hospital job in Vegas but it's been extremely hard and I keep getting rejected by every hospital in every speciality from ICU to med surg to IMC to OR, it's been very difficult. Right now I am working at a SNF (subacute to long term care) and I started working there as a new grad which really sucked cause I only got 3 days of orientation and was on my own. I've been there for 7 months and feel like I don't know anything still like I did pick up some skills and some experience working with g-tubes, vents/trachs (although that's mostly RTs but I do have them as patients), and some other medically complex patients like encephalopathy, cirrhosis, diabetes, addiction, some behaviors, etc but I have like about 20+ patients that I have to take care so a lot of it is just passing medication and not really understanding each condition just doing routine medications and monitoring for any abnormal signs. Anyway, so I've been trying to get out of there and work at a hospital so I can build up my skills and experience as a nurse as well as learn more about the conditions and what to do in certain situations (sometimes I feel lost in the SNF and always have to ask the charge nurse or another nurse on what to do). I finally got an interview in med surg but I've been hearing bad stuff about it and I'm pretty nervous about starting if I do get the job. Is it worth the stress working there? Should I try to find something else? It seems like no where is hiring besides SNFs and psych hospitals without acute care experience. All the specialities hate me :(. Or should I just do a year of SNF and try to get something else? I don't think I would feel as prepared going a year in SNF than I would 6 months in a hospital. Any advice or tips about it would be great! I know I wouldn't want to be in med surg long term but I would just want the experience and better my skills as a nurse. Please halp!!

Trying to get out of this job but no one will accept me :((
Thank you so much for that and yes I think I need to work on my resume tbh it kinda sucks but I'm also looking for a good resume template just haven't found one yet and I have been applying with one of my resumes buttt I think it's really bad since I don't get many call backs LOL so I'll work on that first ? but yeah there are a few nurse residency programs in Vegas like they come every once in a while but it can be rare and I applied to a lot of them and they haven't even bothered to even call or interview me which is so frustrating and discouraging. I just feel like I'm just stuck here and not learning a whole lot. It feels like I've plateaued in what I've learned but I'm always constantly asking for the little help I can get here because there's only like 2 nurses working at night so sometimes it's hard to ask for help or for some learning experiences especially since the orientation was only 3 days here ??? but yeah if you can help that would be nice haha ?

Trying to get out of this job but no one will accept me :((
Hellloooo I am an RN and I started working at a skilled nursing facility in September of 2024 as technically my 2nd job but before that I worked at the psych hospital but got out of that because I didn't like working with adolescence in a psych setting. Anyway the skilled nursing facility I absolutely hate working here. I was working here for 5 months and I can't get out of it. I applied at many hospitals but I don't seem to get at least a call or an interview. I only had 3 days of orientation there and we work a lot with diabetics, post surgical patients, trachs/vent pts, g-tubes, etc. I am still technically a new grad but I don't feel like I'm learning a lot here, yeah I picked up some skills like working with g-tubes and hanging antibiotics but that's about the extent of it. 1 nurse manages up to 20 patients and sometimes, which is scary, a patient can be so sick we have to constantly monitor them or else they can end up coding. It's a nightmare working here and I'm always anxious coming in not knowing what to expect and scared I'll do something wrong or make the wrong mistake having my license on the line as I feel like I never got proper training with the 3 days of orientation. Now for my questions. How do hospitals see nurses who only have skilled nursing experience? Like is it valuable to have? And once I have that experience am I more likely to get hired or is it frowned upon? Is that why I'm not getting calls from hospitals? And for my last question, since hospitals will see that I have skilled nursing experience and if I end up getting a job at the hospital, I'm not sure how many orientation days new hires with years of hospital experience get but would they still accommodate those normal orientation days for new grads seeing that I have skilled nursing experience?
