well i have heard that the first year of nursing after graduation seems ridiculously stressfull no matter where you are, i can only just begin to imagine the stress of a specialty like ED!! lol. May i ask you what the orientation is like at pitt? our big job fair is this sept and they came to the one last year, so i'm hoping they'll be coming again. also, how common are major weather disturbances there? (nervous of hurricanes...we've only had one where i'm from) thanks so much for the info though!

Hurricanes depend year to year. Gville is about an hour and a half inland, so we don't the the brunt of the storm like the coast. We get high winds, some flooding, but *usually* not as bad as the coast (except when Floyd hit). Cool thing about hurricanes though- we get warning that it's going to hit!
As a new grad at that hospital, I had a 14wk orientation. However, help was always (and still is) available for things I am not familiar with.
You may also want to try posting in the NC forum, to see if anyone else has suggestions.

Hi everyone! I'm a Canadain BScN student who will (fingers crossed) graduate next spring (2007) and am very interested in moving to NC. I am also very interested in the ED. Anyone know of good programs for new grads in that state? thanks for any info!
