North Atlanta Market?

Hi everyone. I do hope I may post here- although I am not an NP.

I am currently applying to practitioner schools- both Acute care and FNP- but my husband has been presented with a lucrative job offer in the Cumming, GA area.

Cumming is north of Atlanta, and I am concerned about the market for Acute Care NP and FNP in this area. He would be traveling a great deal (he does now as well) so with our two children I would not be able to commute into Atlanta.

I have to consider setting up clinical (assuming acceptance) and then the job market afterwards.

If anyone can tell me a general feel of the market in that area I would really appreciate it. Also, I read that ATL is on the higher end of pay for practitioners- but if anyone knows about the area north of there- that information would also be very helpful.

Thank you!

The market is pretty limited up there. There is only one hospital in Cumming and its a smaller community hospital that does a lot of L&D. You have to go a ways toward the perimeter to find more inpatient work. There is a fair amount of Urgent Care and other stuff in the area. The other thing to consider if your husband is going to travel a lot is live closer to Atlanta and have him commute. The commute should be pretty easy as you are going against traffic on 400 and he will be closer to the airport. The reality is everyone spends a bunch of time on the road in Atlanta.
