Non-invasive ways to accurately measure BP in pseudo-hypertension?

Published

What are the non-invasive ways to measure the real BP of a patient with pseudo-hypertension?

Between Aneroid, Mercurial and Digital Sphygmomanometers which are best to use?

Would palpatory readings suffice?

This sounds like a homework question. What do you think?

I see that you are new to All Nurses. You'll find that this is a good place to get advice and information, but not a place to "drop off" your homework questions and come back later for an answer. You first need to show us that you are working on the question, and explain your thoughts. Then we will be happy to point you in the right direction or add on to your statements.

What ways can you measure BP in any patient? Do you have to do something different in a patient with pseudo-HTN? What position do you want the patient in for most accuracy? What other factors do you have to consider that might affect the blood pressure?

What do you know about the three types of measurement that you listed? What are the pros and cons of each? Which do you think it better?

Would palpatory measurements be enough? What do you know about palpatory measurements? What are you palpating and is it as accurate as using a different method?

I think you'll find the answer in the definition of pseudo hypertension itself.
