My only advice is don't trust the red bull and no doz to make you alert and safe, because they might just make you jittery, out of it, and sick. You're getting a double whammy with both a 16 hour shift and a night shift.
If you don't feel safe, let someone know. Better for them to be short a staff member than to make an error and hurt/kill someone.
If you don't feel safe in the morning, do not drive yourself home. Find another way.
Good luck.

It may not be comfortable, but if your body knows it has to stay awake, it will.
One of the best ways to stay away is to stay busy, be on your feet moving around. You're more likely to fall asleep if you get yourself comfy in your chair.
i work 1930-0730 on sat and sun and then 2330-0730 on m & t. i understand the staying awake issue. i drink coffe and when i feel i'm about to fall asleep or even start yawning i walk around and do rounds even if rounds arent sceduled.
i work in a assisted living facility and ther is literally nothing to do. i bring in movies to watch, i bring in crafts and books to keep my awake.
