Just wondering if any NP's here in Nashville area are experiencing difficulty getting a job.

I was told after I moved here that this area is totally saturated with NP's and RN's. note I said AFTER I had moved here.. need a job to get pre approved for mortage but only choice left is a locum tenums gig. Rats!!

Maybe you can do home visits for awhile until you land more experience to move on? I hear the jobs are pretty flexible and pay pretty well. It took awhile for me to land my first position, but now I'm 10 months in a low key position and am getting job interviews and offers right and left. All you need to get experience is a job to "get you in the system."

Thank you so much for the encouragement. I did apply to a major insurance company here, United Healthgroup, for a position but was offered an asignment in a county 2 hrs from here. I have a child that needs me closer around so I had to decline regretfully. I did tell the recruiter to please keep my file open for anything within 50 miles. Are you familiar with any other insurance companies in the area offering NP's home visit opportunities??

I'm in Texas, so I can't speak specifically for Tennessee. I peruse Indeed, simply hired and Zip Recruiter for jobs and see many home visit opportunities advertised. Some are with major insurance companies and some are not. I have seen UHG and Cigna. The rest are with private agencies. I wish you luck on your job hunt!

I have been pounding the pavement and knocking on doors and nothing..I actually began my FNP practice in the wonderful state of Texas and had so many offers of work it was ridiculous. Here, I am told that every citizen of this area could have their own private medical provider if they so chose due to the ever increasing number of healthcare providers being graduated or moving to this area. I see so many offers of positions in the Knoxville area, the Memphis area (but I have heard Memphis is also being saturated by recent grads from around the area) and oh so many positions in Texas but minimal here. I will press on.....just really hate to even consider traveling for a corp. again. Thank you for your support.
