NMC employment gap explanation

Published

Hi there ,

I just received an email today 24-01-2018 from assessing officer from NMC stating further information required explaining my employment gap.

I was unemployed from Oct 2016 to present. I didn't work anywhere during this period as I was caring for parents who met with road traffic accident and had multiple fractures.

What shall I mention for my gap ? Someone please help.

Hi. You can mention what happened to your parents. They won't mind, just as long as you declare whatever it is.

Hi thank you for your reply.

As I didn't work as a nurse during this period, will that be a problem to my application process ?

I'm worried whether they will deny my application thinking I'm out of practice for a long period.

Kindly reply.

No. I don't think that would be a problem, as NMC is requiring at least 12 mos of Nursing Practice. It doesn't say recent or past. I think you will have a problem if you will look for employers as they prefer with recent experience.

Thank you for your answers. Your answers were really helpful.

Hello! I just want to know if there's a maximum employment gap for NMC application?

Thanks in advance!
