Hi everyone - I am considering applying for the Jersey City NJCU ABSN program starting in 2020. Has anyone submitted their application?
I’m not worried. I sent my acceptance form in and it was acknowledged quickly. We still have a week to submit the deposit payments. If there is some difficulty in the IT department with creating the user ID’s before the 5/7 deadline, I’m sure we won’t be penalized if we sent the acceptance forms in promptly.

I tried to find info about the schedule with no luck. Thank you!
I used this forum when I was applying and someone from the previous cohort jumped in with info. I figured I’d do the same!
The schedule isn’t awful. You’ll be taking 21 credits each semester, and 22 for the last. First semester you’ll take fundamentals, health assessment, gerontology, pathophysiology, contemporary, and informatics - these last 2 are blended courses.
I’m not sure if they’ll be keeping the schedule the same because of the pandemic. But my late days were until 4pm - 2 days a week. Then I’d be done by 12 or 1 most days. When clinicals start they’re generally 7-3.

I’m a current student of the ABSN program. Going into my last semester next week! Let me know if you guys have any questions ?
Hi there! Thanks so much for offering to answer some questions. How did the clinical hours work before covid? Are there rotations through different units (med/surg, ICU, L&D, peds, psych, etc)? Does everyone do rotations through the same type of units or is there some variation (choice/ranking system)? How are your clinical preceptors?
Is there anything about the program that you wished you knew before starting or anything that you wished you spent the Summer before getting prepared for?
Thanks,
Alex

Hi!
So clinical instructors are pretty nice and knowledgeable. Faculty is easy to talk to and communicate with, so you shouldn’t have any problems there.
Everyone gets the same clinical experience and rotates through the same units - med/surg, peds, OB, psych, etc. But this can change based on what the clinical site allows, so it can get a bit tricky there - I.e. some people had the chance to go to the OR this semester and I didn’t because there was some issue with the hospital.
Clinicals are 7-3p but this can slightly vary depending on clinical instructors.
Review basics like A&P if you can. But don’t stress too much about it. It’s hard but doable!
@Munchkin312 THANK YOU SO MUCH! I remember seeing your posts from last year when I was looking to get info about their admission process.
CONGRATS on getting to your last semester.
Do you think it’s manageable to still work while doing this program?
