Night shift nurses: your top tips/advice?

Hello :) I am currently working on a med-surg/neuro floor. I am still on orientation on days on my 3rd week, but in 3 more weeks I will officially be starting on nights because I am night shift. Truthfully, I was not very fond of it, I really wanted days until my director had to give it away to a more senior nurse (I was a nursing assistant on my floor prior to becoming an RN) so I was left with no choice because I absolutely love my floor and coworkers. However, it's now growing on me and I'm looking forward to it.

But what are your top tips? Anything at all. Sleep related, health related, nursing related, etc what not. Would love to hear 'em!

For a load of tips, write "night shift" in the search box (top right).

My tip is to schedule your sleep time, and guard it.
