NICU travel

Published

I have a question and would appreciate any help. I have 20 years experience in the NICU. I have thought several times about travel nursing. I have ECMO experience and am a primer at my hospital. I also have transport experience. Can anyone suggest a travel agency to go with? Also, is it best to sign up with several travel agencies? I would kind of like to try something new but am a little anxious about stepping out of my box.

Thanks so much for any help.:nurse:

Good luck in your search! Many of our travelers use Cross Country and like it, but they say it all depends on the recruiter.

I would imagine however, that as a traveler you will not be doing any ECMO.

Travelers here don't even do vents. They do feeder/growers.

I also highly recommend Cross Country (my recruiter was Michelle H., tell her I sent you. (c; )

However, like SteveRN21 said, it's highly likely that you will not be doing any ECMO. I came from the 4th ranked and largest level III NICU in the nation to a travel assignment in Florida... and was greeted with 1:4 patient PO feeding assignments. Fortunately I was floated to their CVICU and assigned an intubated neonate on a few drips with a few lines... not the norm though.

Best of luck in your quest!!!
