Despite everyone on my floor warning me that you NICU nurses are rude and territorial
I did an obs in the NICU. I think I'm in love. The nurses were great and the babies were cute/sad/hopeful all at the same time. I saw some babies with perm deficits. Got to see a circ. Also, got to see all the number of drips, etc. baby can be on at the same time.
I'm gonna go for it. I think it looks like a great place to work. I'm currently working as a Student Nurse Tech in Transitional Trauma. I'm going to find out about switching to NICU as soon as they'll allow it (I think I have to be in this position 6 months).
It's funny, I've felt drawn to NICU since I was a unit clerk 15 years ago. But, I've been trying to keep an open mind in terms of taking care of adults, but I just find adults so ho-hum.
I just hope they're is an opening when I grad in December.
