Broad Ripple would be a fun, diverse place to live. Lots of cool shops, things to do, parks, Monon Trail, clubs, etc. It's more of a younger sort of college townish place, I guess you could describe it as.
Carmel and Fishers are nice, as the above poster stated. They can be a bit more expensive, but it just depends. Noblesville and Castleton are also in that area.
Downtown Indy is building up quite a lot, but it's also becoming more expensive as a result.
Greenwood is south of Indy and is nice.
Greenfield is east of Indy, and is more country.
Near East side of Indy...not so good right now due to shootings and such.
Farther out west is Avon, Danville, Westfield, Zionsville...sort of country, and sort of building up. Getting more expensive.
If I were just moving here, I'd be looking at Broad Ripple, Greenwood, Castleton, and maybe Fishers/Noblesville.
Sorry that's a lot of info...hope it helps!
