NHSC Scholar 2015-2016

Hello! I applied for the 2015-2016 NHSC scholar program and I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything yet. There's a Nurse Corps scholarship thread but I haven't seen any posts about this year's NHSC application. The wait is killing me!

So after reading other med school and dentistry forums, it looks like the first round of finalists just went out.

I received my finalist email on July 21st and now my portal says under final review!

i also received a finalist email on july 21st and from my discussions with current scholars, sounds like finalist = awardee as long as the paperwork all goes through / they make sure you don't have any outstanding service agreements, etc.

from my research (on the forums) looks like they send out finalist notifications in waves throughout july and august, and can notify as late as september. also according to my financial aid office, the funds usually don't get distributed until november/december. good luck everyone! there's still hope!

Following this post! I applied as CNM student starting school next week. My EFC is 0, my academics are competitive, and I definitely have a strong desire to work in underserved areas. I think that my limited experience working with underserved populations thus far might be placing me pretty low on the list, though. Based on other forums, I guess I didn't make the initial cut, but I'm holding out hope for the following "waves" of letters.

I got my official rejection email this morning. Over 5,150 applicants and only 196 scholarships awarded. Eh, I'm feeling okay about not being chosen. There's always loan repayment!
