Has anyone else had trouble getting in to the RN program that had high grades and a decent HESI score. I made all A's and an 83 on the HESI and was turned down for the Spring 2019 program.

I see no reason to be pi@@ed... the website clearly states that they take your GPA and your HESI score and rank all qualified candidates from 1st to last.. then offer the top 20 spots into the program... though your grades and HESI are strong, this simply means that there were at least 20 applicants that had stronger scores than you.
If you truly have a 4.0 GPA for your application then the only other options would be to 1 - retake the HESI for a higher score, 2 - take this time to take some of the other 5 non-nursing courses that are required to graduate and this could place you ahead of other applicants next admission cycle, and 3 - seek admission into as many nursing programs as you could realistically attend as this would broaden your chances.
Best of luck.
What other 5 non-nursing courses??? I've taken all the pre-requisite classes to enter the RN program I cannot take any other classes until I get in to the program. Yes I am going to retake the HESI to get a higher score and I live in a very rural area that only has two schools that offer an ASN degree applying to other schools is not an option I am applying to the other school which is in another state. This is an ongoing problem with this school if they did interviews it would help them in my opinion weed out potential drop outs and in the past with the Blairsville RN program they have numerous people who drop out because instead of looking at people who live closer to the Blairsville program they will give the slots to people who live farther away and they drop out due to the demands of their family life. My sister was passed over for the Blairsville program and got in to the Clarksville program six months later she would pass people on the mountain who needed the Clarksville program in the mornings headed to Blairsville makes no sense. You can chalk it up to a GPA thing and a HESI grade but I know for a fact that in this case and in the past because I've had several friends who've gone through NGTC they pick and choose as they wish there are at least three people so far that were selected that had a lower GPA and A lower HESI.
COLL 1010 - College Success
ENGL 1102 Literature and composition
PSYC 1101 Intro to Psychology
PSYC 2103 Human Development
Choice of either:
ARTS 1101 Art Appreciation or
MUSC 1101 Music Appreciation or
ENGL 2130 American Literature
Applicant's scores
on the HESI and GPA based on required core courses will be ranked from the highest to the lowest. Students with the highest
combined scores will be admitted based on available seats in the cohort. In the event that it becomes necessary to break a tie, the
following criteria will be considered:
• Employment experience in a healthcare field
• Completion of educational degree (associates, bachelors, masters)
• Completion of additional courses required for graduation from ASN program but not included in core curriculum (PSYC
1101, PSYC 2103, ENGL 1102 and one humanities course such as ARTS 1101, ENGL 2130 or MUSC 1101.
All that is done to even turn in your letter of intent to be considered for the ASN RN you have to have all these pre-requisites done. For the NGTC program you cannot go ahead and complete any other courses I've gone as far as I can go til I'm accepted in to the RN cohort. Look I've been down this road with my sister and two cousins I know what their requirements are I'm done.
