Hello!
I have a question. I just started my job as a LPn and there seems to be alot of changes taking place on my unit which is a acute care floor, I can feel alot of tension within the other co-workers and wondering if there is some good advice on this issue? When you start a new job you don't want others to think you are coming in making changes- i just want to do things the way i was taught and from what i learned in my years dealing with other medical professions. I don't want to copy things i can see arn't correctly done but also do not want to make any waves being a new person on my floor. Any advice would be helpful

Is this a new job, I mean did you use to work as a nursing assistant there.. In any event I always play dumb. Women are not very nice to each other. Until you get to know everyone just continue doing everything the correct way. If you make waves you will make it harder on yourself, and the truth is you cannot change things. Once you get to know people and you are respected for your work you can start to make suggestions and positive changes. good luck
Thank you very much! As this is what i have learned in the past to do also! Thank you for confirming what i felt i should do

Yep, agree. Observe, get to know the staff, they get to know you, ask about rationale for the way things are done. Make changes immediately if safety issue. Efficiency items can come slower, not all at once. I believe they can be accepted more that way. Build trust and respect with staff FIRST.
Thank you. I am also concerned about the cleanliness of a few of my cna's. In otherwaords should i speak up on the matter? I am a very assertive person and love nursing, but i am new and don't know when or if i should address this issue??
