Hey ladies and germs! Just wanted to give you a word of encouragement. Don't let yourself get roped into any negativity, stay strong and remember why you wanted to become a nurse in the first place. There will be atleast one time during your schooling where you will want to quit and walk out.. :no:DON'T! It may get very difficult at times and you may feel like there is no way in the world you will get through- BUT if you keep moving forward and stay positive- you will make it. Try to pace yourself, tell yourself it's ok to make mistakes, and seriously, the only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask.. These are all cliches but they are all true! I PROMISE!! If you do badly on a test, don't beat yourself up over it, immediately start studying the material you had a hard time with. If you do something crazy at clinical, immediately ask for a demonstration or go back over the materials. Don't let anyone make you feel stupid, everyone has to start at the beginning at one time or another- and we can learn from every single experience we encounter- don't pick up bad habits from others around you! Follow the guidelines and do what you know to be right. If you have a problem with another student, try working it out asap- you have to realize we are all strong willed individuals and it's ok not to like someone but you must respect your fellow classmates and your instructors! You never know, they may be your boss someday! Don't give up.. ASK QUESTIONS. Some days you will feel like everything went smooth like butter then other days will be from hell :devil:and you feel like you have learned nothing... I promise you, the knowledge is in your head- trust your gut and always ASK if you are unsure- Never allow yourself to feel intimidated- any nurse will tell you, they would rather get the same questions over and over than have you make a life threatening mistake. BE BRAVE, BE STRONG, BE UNSTOPPABLE! Have faith in yourself! YOU CAN AND YOU WILL CONQUER NURSING SCHOOL!
Hugs and lots of love from someone who just graduated and passed the NCLEX PN!

Thank you for this!!!! I was feeling kind of down today because some classmates were mumbling under their breathe about my asking questions today! Then later I felt like another student was judging me for questioning our school's accreditation So thank you for your post!

I really needed to see this post! I started my LPN program earlier this month and I am SO READY to say screw this! I was not ready for the program to take over my life as much as it has already. I know that it's going to get worse before it gets better, but it's hard staying focused when you don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. You post just reiterated that this is what I want to do. I will not let if defeat me!!! Thanks again :)

I absolutely love this! And it was definitely needed. I havent even been accepted yet ( waiting on the hopeful acceptance letter less than a month away) and already people seem to start taking jabs to make everything seem negative- what if you dont get in, what if you get in and flunk out, and now Im thinking...what if theyre right?! Thank you for writing this, even as a pre nursing student, it makes me feel better to not give up..EVER!!
