Hi, I am currently a certified wound care in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. I really love my job since making the switch from med-surg. However, I have a few issues:

1) I am single co-parent of a 3 yr old, with limited support and daycare.

2.) My strongest support, my mom recently moved to Hawaii.

3.) I have only been at this job for about 6 months- but I feel limited by lack of the wound care and ostomy products available for use.

4.) I feel like I could be traveling and making more money in Hawaii, if I moved w/ my mom for 3-6 months. I have to work multiple jobs at the moment to make it with the bare necessities.

What would you guys do if you were me? Wait a few months to gain more experience? Or tough it out?

Any advice would be appreciated.

How is the market for wound care nurses in Hawai? Why not apply for jobs at a couple places while you are employed. If you don't get a response, stay at your present position and extend your employment. Another option is to move within your present area and find employment that will provide more experience so you will be more attactive to employers in the future.

Thanks for the reply back. Its pretty competitive market here in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Area. I also tried PRN jobs with wound care skills but to no avail.
