Newborn while in nursing school?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

My husband and I have decided to have a baby now since I found out that I'm still going to be on the waiting list for another semester and won't be starting the program until Fall 07. We don't want to wait until I'm done

(2 1/2 years from now) and I would like to avoid going through a pregnancy during the program. Is anyone else in the same boat? Or will anyone else have a newborn or infant during the program? We have a strong support system but the only thing that concerns us is that I will feel like I won't be able to spend enough quality time with our new baby once I begin the hard workload that comes along with nursing school.

A better question is are you ready to tackle nursing school after the baby is born for the future it can offer, nursing school will often require many sacrifices and there's no right answer that fits anyone. From a developmental perspective, kids tend to get sick a LOT when they first start daycare (exposure to all the other kids!) so if you feel ready to make such a committment, you'll need a backup and a backup-backup-backup plan (because daycare tends to close for weather on days you will have classes, or baby might get sick, etc)

It might be helpful if you could give yourself a few weeks after you start adapting & really getting a grasp on post partum life and asking yourself all these same questions.
