Hi! I'm going for my LPN and I live in NYC. Other than long term healthcare, what is the best direction to head in? I was considering labor and delivery but not sure if they hire LPNs in that field here.
Also, any advice for a NY LPN I would greatly appreciate. Thanks!

Most NYC hospitals are hiring RN/BSN. Especially with scope of practice limitations acute care such as L&D need RNs and LPNs are working LTC, subacute, acute rehab, detox, psych, assisted living, home health, skilled private duty, outpatient but even these areas are difficult for LPNs as there is an abundance of RNs seeking employment too

As an LPN, your opportunities and choices of work environments are limited and in NYC, they are phasing out LPN positions in favor of the RN/BSN in hospitals. Don't waste your time and money. Work towards being an RN/BSN instead. If new grad RNs are having a hard time finding employment, you can only image how hard it would be for a new grad LPN or an LPN in general.
