New York license HELP

Hi I am a Canadian nurse, looking to get my NY RN license. Has anyone done this recently? I am not sure if I have to go through CGFNS or just through the NY board of nursing. Do I need a job offer to get a social security number? If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Yes, you need to go thru the CGFNS process with the CVS. You will also need to get a Visa Screen Certificate as well.

All you need is the Visa Screen Certificate in hand, as well as a job offer, to be issued a TN Visa at the border. Once you get that and are in the US, just go to the Social Security office and apply for the SSN#. It will take about one week before you will get the card.
