New York hospitals and suburbs

U.S.A. New York

I've been thinking about moving to NY after I've been working for a while and possibly having a family out there. What's a good hospital in NY to work at that is near the suburbs? If anyone can help me, I'd really appreciate it. I tried searching on GOOGLE but don't really have too much info about NY except the city itself. Thanks!

Hi Marj,

I grew up in upstate NY. Albany county suburbs. Places called Loudonville and Latham. NY Giants do summer training at SUNY Albany and schools are exemplary. It's God's country. Absolutely exquisite place to be a child and young adult. But it's not NYC. Nor is the pay. However, if you like to travel, hike, ski, play, swim,...it's terrific and the cost of living is included in all that. You definitely get a lot more bang for your buck.

I'm possibly going to return there for my own peace of mind and get into my nursing career there after trying the south for the past 10 years.

PM me if you have any questions.

Chloe

marj, Albany isn't commutable to NYC.

There are a ton of hospitals in Manhattan, Staten Island, Brookyn, Queens, and the Bronx, as well as in the suburbs.

Have you ever been here?

Very true....LOL as a matter of fact NYC'ers don't recognize Albany as part of "their" state.

Albany is smack in the middle of the state and 3.5-ish hours directly north of NYC.

Guess I missed you saying you wanted NYC.

Still, upstate is beautiful suburbs if that's what ya want. But so is Connecticut and it's only an hour+. But VERY expensive

Good luck whatever you decide Marg

Heck, I used to think anything north of Westchester was in Canada.

Sue, you goober!!! :1luvu:

WOW thanks for the reply, guys.

I've been to NYC for a week for spring break in april 2006.

My boyfriend and I started talking about it more and thought that maybe he and I would just live there for a while rather than raise a family there considering EVERYONE we know is in California, and we're the only die hard NYC fans over here. Haha.

So places in the city are ideal too; but man, rent can be bleh. Haha. Then again, it's the city.

Thanks for all your help! Totally appreciate it.
