Has anyone taken a CNA course at this school? I've seen it mentioned on this site a few times when I searched the name, but I found a really negative response when searching for the address on google:
I decided to enroll in the cna course at new york medical career training center because I found the price more reasonable than most of the other locations that are offering the said course. When I visited the office to enroll, I was quickly handed the enrollment form and was told the amount I needed to pay. The process was rushed, it took 8 minutes. This was the only time while doing business with this school, that I received professional service. Every thing else was disorganised. Records are poorly kept. It took two months after completing the course, for me to recieve my certificate. They do not keep track of payments made by the students, if you loose your receipt, you are 'screwed'. Whenever I call the school to retrieve information, this is the response I get," ... the person who is in charge of that is not available. Call back in an hour." The receptionist has no customer service skills whatsoever, the only information you'll get from her is the cost of the tuition. She is of no help. The prices are very cheap and so are their services. I wasted my time and my money. I would suggest that you opt for the more professional training centers. Their prices are a little higher but I gaurantee that you will receive better value for your money. New York Medical Career Training Center is a waste of valuable time.
Anyone have any problems with them? I'd like to start in January, but maybe I should look at other programs.
I agree with slane, it is a school for adults. Yes, its not the best school, as far as appearance, but the instructors teach you what you need to know for both your certification exam and your experience on the job. I took the course for medical billing/coding, because I am already in school for RN. They provide you with externships close to where you live, for a minimum of 60 hrs. You could request more time, if u want to. My externship was for 100 hrs, and the company even hired me when i completed it. My certificate was available within a week of completing my course, and so was the externship. People keep complaining about the receipts, simple solution...don't lose your receipt, just like you keep retail receipts. For the price that they offer, you people should be greatful. For all those who are focused on getting a job, and getting trained for a reasonable price; and for those who are self starters and goal oriented...this is a great option for you.

I feel that the New York Career Medical Training Center in Queens is a place where ADULTS go to learn and achieve. The problem isn't the intructor, but the students. I found fellow classmates to be lazy, late and addicted to texting on their cell phones. If you are in a class with 15 students, if you pay attention after performing the skill once; you will be able to ask questions and go home and practice what you learned BECAUSE THAT ONE SKILL IS DONE 15 TIMES. In my class students where texting while the instructor was assisting the students with their clinicals which is ridiculous. I PAIDED ATTENTION, PERFORMED THE SKILLS, ASKED QUESTION AND TOOK NOTES SO THAT I CAN GO HOME AND DO THE SKILLS ON MY OWN. PRACTICALS ARE PROCEDURES THAT YOU PRACTICE AT HOME. SO IF A SKILL IS DONE 15 TIMES AND YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT IT AND YOU DON'T ASK QUESTIONS, THEN THE JOKE IS ON YOU. I PAID MY MONEY AND I ASKED ALL THE QUESTIONS I NEEDED TO ASK AND I FOUND THE INSTRUCTOR TO BE FORTH COMING AND TOLERANT. SOME OF THE ADULTS IN MY CLASS WHERE LAZY AND DID NOT PAY ATTENTION. THE FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST WAS INFORMATIVE AND PLEASANT. I BELIEVE THAT THE SCHOOL IN GENERAL IS A EXCELLENT PLACE FOR ADULTS WHO ARE WILLING TO WORK HARD, BE ON TIME AND PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT'S GOING ON. THE TEXT BOOK IS GIVIN TO YOU SO THAT YOU CAN READ AT HOME AND IT COMES WITH A WORK BOOK. MY CLASS WENT OVER THE WORK IN CLASS ON WEDNESDAYS. THE INSTRUCTOR WORKS HARD AND I HAVE THE GREATES RESPECT FOR HER BECAUSE SHE HAS TO WORK WITH ADULTS THAT BEHAVE LIKE 5 YEAR OLD CHILDREN, WHO SEEM TO WANT EVERYTHING HANDED TO THEM. YOU HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION IN THIS SCHOOL AND TAKE NOTES IF YOU WANT TO REMEMBER THE SKILL. IN COLLEGE YOU TAKE NOTES AND STUDY AT HOME. THAT'S THE FORMULA FOR SUCCESS. GIVE YOUR BEST. PROFANTIY IS USED ALL OVER THE WORLD, GET OVER IT. I HAVE MY STATE BOARD COMING UP AND I AM HOME PRACTICING THE SKILLS WITH THE STEP BY STEP NOTES I TOOK WHILE IN CLASS BECAUSE I PAID ATTENTION, CAME ON TIME AND PUT MY CELL PHONE ON VIBRATE AND ANSWERED MY CALLS ON BREAK.
IF YOU ARE LAZY, AND HAVE A SHORT ATTENTION SPAN, THEN NY CAREER MEDICAL TRAINING CENTER IS NOT FOR YOU. IT IS FOR ADULTS, STOP COMPLAINING YOU WERE PROBABLY THE ONE WITH THE ATTITUDE.
