Hey I just graduated last week:nurse: and I am trying to start the job search process. Does any know the starting pay for a new graduate in the Dallas area? Is it hard to get into LTC? Do they usually hire new grads?

All of the area hospitals are phasing out LVN's b/c of Magnet status. So right now I am looking at LTC, LTAC & rehab facilities. Any advice would be greatly appreciated:yeah::redpinkhe:confused:

Idk about Dallas, but where I live in Florida, the LTCs hire new grads. But, I wouldn't recommend an LTC to anybody because I hated it. But, if that's all you can find right now, go for it. Go to the LTCs you're interested in (dressed professionally) and fill out applications. You might even be interviewed on the spot and offered a position.

I wish it were like that in CA, there's no jobs in LTC either. Does Florida have lots of openings for new grads?

In my area (Gainesville), there are a lot of positions for new grads. during certain months--around March, July, Sept. and December. That's the pattern I've noticed. But the LTCs are pretty much always hiring.

I'm not sure about the market in other cities, but I do know it's really hard to get a new grad. position in South Fl.

Dress nicely, show up with a resume and copy of your license, and ask if they are hiring. Most LTCs always have or are about to have an opening for a presentable LP/Vn,
