Hello everyone!!
I need some advice!! I've been reading some posts in this forum and I've seen where others have asked about being new to travel nursing and having a lack of a permanent address.
I currently live in South Carolina and my first travel assignment is in Texas. My monthly rent at my current apartment is far too much to pay monthly and not live here so I decided to end my lease. I'm running into issues where now I have no permanent address.
I could list my parent's address as my permanent address but the problem there is they live in New Jersey and I would have to re-register my car and obtain a new driver's license if I decided to go that route. While I'd love to go back home and see family, it would be extremely inconvenient and costly for me to do so.
I currently have my car registered in South Carolina to my current address and my driver's license also lists my current address. Is there any way around this?
I also would not want to lose my South Carolina nursing license. I will maintain a PRN role in the hospital I'm now leaving but I don't know if that helps at all. I'm not so concerned about a "tax home". I'm anticipating paying taxes on my income I receive while travelling.

The BON and other state require a current mailing address. Consider getting a roommate situation in the town with your PRN situation. This will solve your mail issues and will maintain your tax home. A tax home is worth about $10,000 a year net to the average traveler likely far more than a roommate situation will cost.
