Hi there! I just accepted my first travel nursing position as a critical care float pool nurse. I have 2 years of MICU experience, and I'm trying to get a head start on what to expect from CVICU and Neuro, as these are the main places I'll be expected to go aside from an MI. Anything that would be helpful to keep me afloat is appreciated! I'm expecting chaos but looking forward to learning new things.

Rule out any post operative cases, or at least day one. What does that leave? Heart attacks and strokes in large? Did you have a manager interview? She could have shed light on the pt population.
There is also the possibility of doing step down or tele. Some hospitals like to get overqualified nurses (and not disclose their float plans), at least prior to Covid. Might be an expensive strategy currently so less likely. Manager interviews can be key sometimes to avoid unwelcome floating. And an MICU RN could have issues floating down without relevant experience.
