New To Travel Nursing

I Will Start My First Travel Assignment In Eastern North Carolina In Early September. I Was Wondering If Anyone Has Had Any Experience With Cape Fear Valley Medical Center In Fayetteville, North Carolina. To Say The Very Least, I Am Nervous But I Feel Confident In My Nursing Skills. How Do You Adjust To The New Environment? Is There A Lot Of Resentment From Regular Staff Nurses? I Will Be Working A Busy Medical Floor And Could Really Use Any Input Anyone Has To Offer.

Not everyone is receptive to travel nurses, but I find the majority don't mind. I think the biggest issue is the "pay".

I have worked with travelers and I enjoy working with them.

I traveled once and found everyone to be very receptive to me.

Sorry, I don't know about Fayetteville, but if their turnover is usually high, they will probably welcome you with no problem.

i can't help you with the area. but on the rest, if you are a good nurse and can do the work most perm employees appreciate the help. like debbie said they probably resent that you're getting paid more but i've never had any problems from staff. after the first few days you should start getting use to the environment and routine. one thing i have noticed on some assignments. some staff don't appreciate travelers that always say "that's not how we did it [wherever]". it's not that they don't want suggestions. but if that's all they hear everyday they might label you a complainer. just remember, every place has their way of doing things. sometimes it's good and sometimes it sucks. i've been traveling about a year and love it so far. good luck.
