Hey everyone! I just started in the nursing program and had an instructor recommend this site to us. I've been looking around and there seems to be LOTS of information.

Anyway, like I said, I just started the program this fall, I am married and have 4 children. It's all been very overwhelming and there have been a couple times where I've asked myself, "What am I doing?" I am almost 40 yrs old here! Does anyone have ANY tips on how to get through the next 3 yrs without pulling my hair out? LoL

Hi, welcome!

I'm also in my first semester and can't imagine having to juggle a husband and kids on top of all the work we're being bombarded with, so hats off to you (I can barely manage myself and my cat, lol). Since you made it into a nursing program your study habits are probably rock solid but if you're looking for any specific tips try browsing the "Nursing Student Assistance" and "General Nursing Student" boards - lots of people have been asking about how to get through all the reading, formulating care plans, being nervous at clinicals, etc. in the past few weeks. As far as not pulling your hair out I'd just say to get as organized as you can possibly be (both at home and at school), make friends with your crock pot, and do not hesitate to ask for help the moment you feel like you're going underwater - talking to a nursing counselor, instructor, or student from the class ahead of yours can be an invaluable sanity check. Good luck in your program and keep us posted!
