New Student Supplies

Published

I have been told by a maricopa admin staff member, that I will certainly be in class in 2010. Since school is expensive enough, I want to "collect" as many things now; before the tutition comes due, as I can. Shoes, being my current item. I imagine white is what they will require students to wear, but must they be unrelieved white? Can they have some color trim? Or some color decor? Hard to find white on white that are comfortable in a reasonable cost range. I know closed heal and toe, but what about rocket dogs, that have no laces; they were very comfortable. This may seem kind of a silly question, but my feet sure need to be comfortable. Thanks for any advice.

I'm confident if you searched on "nursing shoes" or just "best shoes" in Allnurses - you'll get hundreds of reviews on shoes. When I was in school, the instructors weren't that tight on whether the shoes has ornamentation or not - just mostly white. The main point is get something that gives your feet support, are comfortable and you can afford. I even saw one gal in Keds. The more expensive ones you can invest in once you have your nursing job.

Thanks, yep, want the most comfortable for the lest amount of $. Things are so rough right now. And too, something that I can wear after schooling. I have found many comfortable shoes in my price range, just none of them were totally white, some small amount of trim or such. In California (friends who went to nursing school there, years ago) had to have white nursing shoes period, and even back then they were quite expensive. Thanks for your reponse:specs:

Hi quotetheraven,

would you mind sharing your time stamp just to give me an idea what my chances are for getting into the program next August. I know they placed some students with an August time stamp, I just can't figure out how far into August they got. I am certainly hoping for August 2010. I have been on the list since last October. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Aug 8th 2008, around 8:53 in the morning. I was told two to three years, so never gave the time stamp too much of a thought. I got in for the spring, according to what i was told, because so many have dropped due to the economy, no grant money, the poor outlook for actually getting a job right now, or cash saved etc. So had that not been the case, I would still be waiting for next Aug.
